I stumbled upon a friendly reminder today that I would like to share with you all that came from Beth Moore (whoever you all are…).

Pride is the graveyard of leaders.

Insecurity is the pysch-ward.

Whenever we make leadership about us we lose it.  Leadership, influence, is first and foremost about God and His Glory.  His passion, His desire, His hope, his…  Once we lose that, we will inevitably lose that the second aspect is about people.  Leadership is our generous contribution to the world, and ultimately to the Kingdom of God.  Once, you allow your ambitions cloud God’s, once you begin taking credit instead of projecting it back to God, your epitaph is written.  Pride is the graveyard of leaders.

Who do you want to validate you?  What are you trying to prove?  Who are you seeking approval from?  Is it driving you nuts?  A great leader is one who find complete security in his/her call/vision and looks to God to fulfill it as they live it.  When performance is your drug of choice, you are going to go insane.  Be secure in how God sees you and don’t worry about proving things.  Be indispensable and allow those close to you speak into your life for to make you sharper and closer and closer to the image of God.

Pride is the graveyard.  Insecurity is the psych-ward.

How have you combated these in your leadership?
